Lets Kick Racism Out

One game, one community

 

 

To celebrate the week which is being held nationally to kick racism out of football, special football training sessions are being held throughout South Derbyshire.

 

The LKO (Lets Lick Racism Out) street soccer sessions have been organised by John Widdowson, South Derbyshire District Council’s Community Sports Coach with Derbyshire County Football Association and Derbyshire County Council Youth Service.

 

Says John Widdowson, “We will not only be giving training in football skills, we will also be make sure that everyone knows that football is one game, for one community.”

 

The sessions are supported by Frank McArdle, the Chief Executive of South Derbyshire District Council who is Patron of Derbyshire County Football Association and also a board member of the Football Association.

 

“During the ‘One Game, One Community Week’ grassroots clubs, schools, community groups, fan and professional clubs all come together to ensure that everyone who wants to be is included in playing and enjoying football.”

 

Sessions are free.  They being held for young people aged from eight to 16 from 6pm until 8pm. On Monday 19 October they are being held at Hatton multi-use games area  and Castle Gresley and on Tuesday 20 October at Melbourne.  On Wednesday 21 October they are being held at Newhall multi-use games area and at Repton Broomhills PF .  On Thursday 22 October these sessions are taking place at Overseal multi-use games area.

There’s street soccer for teenagers on Friday 23 October at Granville School from 6pm until 8pm.
